How to opt out of LiveRamp
- 1
Open Your Privacy Choices
Go to LiveRamp's Your Privacy Choices page. Opt-out requests are open to everyone in the US, whatever state you live in.
- 2
Choose opt-out or deletion
An opt-out stops LiveRamp using your data for ad targeting and transfers. Deletion is a separate request. LiveRamp suggests an opt-out if your goal is to limit personalized ads.
- 3
Enter your name and email
LiveRamp asks for your first and last name and your email, which it needs for a comprehensive opt-out. Its California notice also asks for your state of residence.
- 4
Finish verification if you asked for deletion
LiveRamp says opt-outs need no identity verification. Deletion needs email verification and knowledge-based questions, and may ask for proof of residency in a protected state.
- 5
Optional: opt out by phone or browser signal
You can call (844) 678-0045 and enter service code 1. LiveRamp also treats a browser Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of sale for that browser.
Watch out for
- Without your name and email you can only opt out a device identifier or a browser cookie, and a cookie opt-out applies to that browser only.
- Deletion doesn't stop online ads, according to LiveRamp.
- You'll still see ads and get marketing email after opting out, though LiveRamp says they may be less relevant.
- California residents can make a verifiable access or deletion request only twice in 12 months.
- UK and EU residents use separate regional pages, such as LiveRamp UK Your Privacy Choices.
Does it come back?
LiveRamp doesn't publish a relisting policy. Keep the browser signal on, and file the request again if you change email or device.
Your rights
LiveRamp Holdings, Inc. is on the California data broker registry. Its docs give opt-outs 15 business days and deletions 45 days.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
Canada: PIPEDA. You can withdraw your consent to a company using your personal information and ask it to correct what it holds. If it doesn't respond, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
United Kingdom: UK GDPR. You can ask any company to erase your personal data and to stop using it for direct marketing. It has one month to respond. If it doesn't, you can complain to the ICO.
European Union: GDPR. You have the right to have your personal data erased and to object to its use for direct marketing. Companies must respond within one month, and you can complain to your national data protection authority if they don't.
Australia: Privacy Act. You can tell a company to stop using your information for direct marketing and ask it to correct what it holds. If it doesn't act, you can complain to the OAIC.

Frequently asked
What does a LiveRamp opt-out actually stop?
It stops LiveRamp using your data for ad targeting and data transfers, which is how LiveRamp frames the choice. It isn't a listing you search for and remove.
Do I need to verify my identity?
Not for an opt-out. For deletion, correction or access LiveRamp requires email verification and challenge questions.
Does opting out remove my ads?
No. LiveRamp says you'll still see advertisements, but they may be less relevant.
Can I request this outside the US?
LiveRamp points UK and EU residents to its regional rights pages.
