How to opt out of Public Data Check

  1. 1

    Find your record

Search your name on publicdatacheck.com and copy the URL of the page that shows you.

  2. 2

    Email the privacy address

Write to privacyinfo@publicdatacheck.com asking for your information to be deleted and not sold or shared. Give your full name, state and the record URL.

  3. 3

    Expect a verification step

The filing lists some requests as denied, so reply promptly if the company asks you to confirm who you are.

  4. 4

Follow up by phone if needed

The filing lists (800) 950-0953 as the company's number.

Watch out for

  • In its 2024 filing the company denied 39,491 of 140,857 opt-out of sale requests and 189 of 14,915 deletion requests, so a first request doesn't always succeed. Keep a copy and resend with the details the company asks for.

Does it come back?

National Data Analytics doesn't publish a relisting policy. Search your name again every couple of months.

Your rights

As a registered California data broker, National Data Analytics handles deletion and opt-out of sale requests under the CCPA.

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
