How to remove yourself from Experian Australia
You can't have an Experian Australia credit report deleted. You can have wrong entries corrected through its CreditConnect portal, or by disputing them with the credit provider. Experian says it investigates within 30 days and may ask for 100 points of ID.
On average, Serus sends about 184 removal requests per person, 89% of them to data brokers, so expect Experian Australia to be one of many.

Experian Australia doesn't say how long removal takes. Under California law, a business has 45 days to act on a deletion request (15 business days for an opt-out of sale).
How to opt out of Experian Australia
- 1
Get your credit report
Order your report first. Experian asks for its number when you raise a correction.
- 2
Work out which entry is wrong
Copy the entry exactly as the report shows it. Then write down what it should say and gather proof, such as a bank letter or an account closure statement.
- 3
Raise the correction in CreditConnect
Use the correction page to open the request in Experian's portal. Have your full name, date of birth, driver's licence number and current and previous addresses to hand.
- 4
Or go to the credit provider
If the credit provider agrees the entry is wrong, it must pass the correction on to Experian within 5 days. A provider that disagrees has to show you why the entry is right.
- 5
Escalate if you're refused
Experian's internal disputes team is at creditreport@au.experian.com. After that you can go to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Watch out for
- Experian says it can't change data without the written consent of the lender that supplied it. Name and address changes go to the credit provider.
- Identity checks need at least 100 points of ID plus proof of address, using documents from the lists on Experian's page.
- If a correction is down to identity theft or fraud, Experian suggests including a statutory declaration and a police report.

Frequently asked
Can I delete my Experian Australia credit report?
Experian's page describes corrections, not deletion. Wrong entries can be corrected, and you can also place a credit ban if you're worried about fraud.
How long does an Experian correction take?
Experian says it confirms receipt by email and investigates within 30 days. It may tell you about a delay and ask to extend that.
Can someone else lodge the request for me?
Yes, a solicitor or credit repair agency can, with your signed authority to act and 100 points of your ID, sent to creditreport@au.experian.com.
