    Open the privacy policy

Go to the Business Watch Network privacy policy. It links the Data Removal Form.

  2. 2

    Submit the Data Removal Form

The policy says this removes your data from its databases at any time.

  3. 3

    Opt out of sharing

The policy links a separate Opting Out Of Sharing Personal Information form for sharing with third parties. California residents can use the Do Not Sell My Personal Information link.

  4. 4

The site has an unsubscribe page for its newsletter emails, separate from the removal form.

Watch out for

  • The policy also points to LiveRamp's opt-out and the Network Advertising Initiative for hashed email use in online advertising. Those are separate from Business Watch Network.
  • Business Watch Network is not the same as Business Watch International.

Does it come back?

Business Watch Network doesn't publish a relisting policy. Check again after a few months.

Your rights

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
