How to opt out of Grassroots Analytics

  1. 1

    Read the CCPA page first

Grassroots Analytics' CCPA page names three rights: access, deletion, opt-out of sales. It also links its own request statistics.

  2. 2

    Email your request

Write to operations@grassrootsanalytics.com, the contact it gave the California registry. Say which right you're using, deletion or opt-out of sale or both. Include your full name, your email and phone, and the address it would hold for you.

  3. 3

Ask for a reply in writing

Ask for a written confirmation. If you need to follow up, that's your record.

Watch out for

  • The page doesn't give a web form or state how requests are submitted, so email is the route the registry supports.
  • Opt-out of sale and deletion are separate rights. Ask for both.

Does it come back?

Grassroots Analytics doesn't publish a relisting policy.

Your rights

Grassroots Analytics is registered as a data broker in California. Its entry reports 138 deletion requests, all complied with in full, and 15 days to respond substantively.

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
