How to opt out of Audiencerate
- 1
Open the data regulation page
Go to audiencerate.com/data-regulation.html. It is Audiencerate's own page on how its advertising profiling works and how to opt out.
- 2
Use the opt-out mechanism
The page says consent to profiling cookies can be withdrawn at any time with its opt-out mechanism. Use it in each browser you want covered.
- 3
Email for anything beyond cookies
For questions about your data, write to privacy@audiencerate.com. The data protection officer is at dpo@audiencerate.com. Name the request you are making (access, deletion or objection) and the email address or device you think is linked to you.
- 4
Keep a copy of what you send
Save the email and any reply so you can follow up if the answer is slow.
Watch out for
- A cookie-based opt-out is stored in the browser where you set it, so a new browser or cleared cookies means doing it again.
- Audiencerate works with publishers' consent banners, so the choice you make on a website's cookie banner also matters.
- California's registry entry lists an /opt-out/ page, but the data regulation page is the one Audiencerate publishes on its own site.
Does it come back?
Audiencerate doesn't publish a relisting policy. Because the opt-out is cookie-based, clearing your cookies or switching browsers removes it.
Your rights
Audiencerate is a UK company and is also listed in California's data broker registry, so UK GDPR rights and California privacy rights can both apply depending on where you live.
United Kingdom: UK GDPR. You can ask any company to erase your personal data and to stop using it for direct marketing. It has one month to respond. If it doesn't, you can complain to the ICO.
European Union: GDPR. You have the right to have your personal data erased and to object to its use for direct marketing. Companies must respond within one month, and you can complain to your national data protection authority if they don't.
