How to opt out of FordDirect

  1. 1

    Open the privacy site

Go to forddirectprivacy.com. The Privacy Statement there has a California section and a Nevada one, plus a section for other states. Read the one that matches where you live.

  2. 2

    Send the request

Use the route in your state's section to opt out of sale or sharing, or to ask for deletion. If you'd rather write, the registry gives dprivacy@forddirect.com as FordDirect's contact.

  3. 3

    Phone if needed

    (844) 889-7367, from the registry.

  4. 4

    Stop interest-based ads separately

FordDirect says it belongs to the Digital Advertising Alliance, whose AdChoices tool stops interest-based ads from participating companies on the browser you use it in. It doesn't delete data.

Watch out for

  • FordDirect's statement leaves out Ford dealers and their associations. It also leaves out Ford Motor Company itself, and each of them has its own request route.
  • FordDirect says it gets some information from dealers and affiliates. Removing yourself from FordDirect doesn't remove you from them.
  • Its Privacy Statement was updated on June 25, 2026 and takes effect July 1, 2026. Read the current text.
  • Deletion averaged 25 days in 2024. Opt-outs averaged 1.

Does it come back?

FordDirect doesn't publish a relisting policy. It says dealers and affiliates share information with it, so a later enquiry at a Ford or Lincoln dealer can put your details back.

Your rights

FordDirect is on the California data broker registry. Its Privacy Statement also has sections for Nevada and for residents of other states with their own privacy laws.

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
