Watch out for
- FreeWheel's 2024 California figures are averages. Your own request can take longer, and the filing shows deletions averaging 17 days against 13 for opt-outs.
- Its registry entry says it collects precise geolocation, which is worth mentioning if location is what worries you.
- The form page lists no email address or phone number, so keep your own record of what you sent.

Your rights
FreeWheel is on the California data broker registry. California residents can opt out of sale and sharing and can request deletion.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
European Union: GDPR. You have the right to have your personal data erased and to object to its use for direct marketing. Companies must respond within one month, and you can complain to your national data protection authority if they don't.
Canada: PIPEDA. You can withdraw your consent to a company using your personal information and ask it to correct what it holds. If it doesn't respond, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
