How to opt out of PROPERTYCHECKER

  1. 1

    Open the rights page

Go to propertychecker.com/optout, headed Your Privacy Choices.

  2. 2

Use the Do Not Sell or Share page

The form there lets you opt out of sale or sharing. For deletion, use the request form linked at the bottom of the page.

  3. 3

Or turn on Global Privacy Control

Propertychecker treats a GPC signal from your browser as an opt-out of sale or sharing. It also treats it as a rejection of non-necessary cookies.

  4. 4

    Covered persons: email instead

Judges and their household family members can email privacy@propertychecker.com, and so can prosecutors and law enforcement members. Use the subject Attention Covered Person Removal Request. Include your full name and residence, plus your email address and status.

Watch out for

  • Records expunged or sealed by a court may still show up, since Propertychecker aggregates public sources. Email privacy@propertychecker.com with the subject Attention Expungement Records.
  • Denied? Appeal at the same address.
  • It may ask extra questions to match you to your information.
  • InfoPay's registry entry lists other sites under the same company, and a request on one may not cover the rest of the group.

What PROPERTYCHECKER holds about you

  • Court and criminal records
  • Property records

Sister sites

These are run by the same company. Removing yourself from PROPERTYCHECKER doesn't remove you from them, so check each one.

Does it come back?

Propertychecker doesn't publish a relisting policy. It says it aggregates information from publicly available sources, so search yourself again after any removal.

Your rights

Propertychecker lists rights to know, correct, delete and port your data, and to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. The rights apply in 19 states, including California, Texas and Virginia.

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
