How to remove yourself from Equifax UK
Equifax UK holds credit reference data, and the route to ask about it is its data protection team. Email UKDPO@equifax.com or write to its Leicester service centre. Its shared notice names rights to get a copy and to have errors corrected, plus a right to object.
On average, Serus sends about 184 removal requests per person, 89% of them to data brokers, so expect Equifax UK to be one of many.

How to opt out of Equifax UK
- 1
Decide what you're asking for
Equifax's notice lists rights to a copy of your data, to correct it, and to object to its use. Say which one in your first message.
- 2
Contact Equifax
Email UKDPO@equifax.com. The contact page works too. So do the phone lines, 0333 321 4043 or 0800 014 2955. Post goes to Equifax Limited at PO Box 10036 in Leicester (LE3 4FS).
- 3
Name the data and the request
Give your name and old addresses so Equifax can find your file. Then say exactly what you want changed or stopped.
- 4
Take it to the ICO if needed
If you're unhappy with the reply, the notice points to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Watch out for
- Equifax is one of three UK credit reference agencies, alongside Experian and TransUnion. A request to one doesn't reach the others.
- Files differ. Not every lender reports to all three.
- Equifax says it also uses data for marketing-related purposes. Its shared notice points to separate privacy notices for those uses.
