How to remove yourself from Intelius
Intelius doesn't run its own listing opt-out. It sends you to the PeopleConnect Suppression Center, a free tool that hides your background report on Intelius and its sister people-search sites. Intelius doesn't say how long a suppression takes.

How to opt out of Intelius
- 1
Open the Suppression Center
Go to the Intelius Data Privacy Center and click Manage My Suppression Rules, or go straight to the Suppression Center.
- 2
Enter your email address
Enter your email address and tick the box agreeing to PeopleConnect's terms. You'll be agreeing to get transactional emails about your request.
- 3
Follow the verification link
Open the verification email and follow the link.
- 4
Confirm who you are
Confirm who you are with your full name and date of birth. PeopleConnect's terms say you must verify at least one email address or phone number to finish.
- 5
Suppress your background report
From then on, a name search on the PeopleConnect people-search sites shouldn't return a report about you.
- 6
Do the relatives form too
Your name can still show up as a "possible relative or associate" in someone else's report. Use the separate Right to Opt Out form on the privacy center with your name, date of birth, city and state; Intelius emails you once it's done.
Watch out for
- Suppression hides your own report, but your name can still show up as a possible relative or associate in someone else's report unless you use the separate relatives form.
- The "Delete My User Data" button only deletes your account and search history, and Intelius says it will "NOT prevent other users from searching for your Public Data".
- Your details can still appear in reverse phone or address lookups, or on registered sex offender lists, after a suppression.
- One suppression covers TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Intelius and US Search, but not Classmates.com, and PeopleConnect doesn't name the other domains in Intelius, LLC's registry filing (such as ZabaSearch and PeopleFinder.com) as covered.

Sister sites
These are run by the same company. Removing yourself from Intelius doesn't remove you from them, so check each one.
Does it come back?
Intelius doesn't publish a relisting policy. PeopleConnect's terms admit that "subtle discrepancies in data" can make it hard to remove everything about you, and the company "provides no assurances that it can". Search yourself on Intelius every few months, by name and by phone number, and contact privacy@peopleconnect.us if you still see your data.
Your rights
Intelius's own privacy policy notes that California's DROP platform doesn't cover publicly available information, which is what its reports are built from, and recommends using the Suppression Center as well. Since October 1, 2026, Connecticut residents also have a right to delete public information compiled into a profile; Section 9 of the Intelius privacy policy explains how to send one by email.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.

Frequently asked
Does removing myself from Intelius also remove me from TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate?
Yes, according to PeopleConnect. Its Suppression Center applies to name searches on every PeopleConnect people-search site, TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate included.
Is the Intelius opt-out free?
Yes. PeopleConnect says its Suppression Tool is free.
Why does my name still appear on Intelius after I suppressed my report?
Suppression hides your own report from name searches. You can still appear as a relative in other reports or in phone and address lookups. Use the relatives form on the privacy center and email privacy@peopleconnect.us about anything left.
Do I need to send ID to Intelius?
No. You verify with your name and date of birth, then confirm an email address or phone number.
