Watch out for
- ZipRecruiter is a job marketplace, not a classic people-search site. Its older California notices say it may share identifiers and internet activity data with advertising partners for ad targeting, which is why the opt-out page exists.
- Its 2026 job applicant notice says it doesn't sell or share applicant data. Applicant privacy requests go to hrprivacy@ziprecruiter.com.
- Its Global Privacy Policy says it doesn't currently sell data in a way that triggers Nevada's opt-out requirements.

Your rights
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
Canada: PIPEDA. You can withdraw your consent to a company using your personal information and ask it to correct what it holds. If it doesn't respond, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
United Kingdom: UK GDPR. You can ask any company to erase your personal data and to stop using it for direct marketing. It has one month to respond. If it doesn't, you can complain to the ICO.
