How to opt out of Redi-Data

  1. 1

    Open the opt-out form

Go to redidata.com/opt-out-form and complete the form.

  2. 2

Or write to the privacy address

Email privacy@redidata.com and say you want your information deleted. The same address is the contact in Redi-Data's California registry entry, and the registry also lists the phone number 973-227-4380.

  3. 3

    Keep a record

Note the date. The company's own filing shows a median of 11 days to answer deletion requests in 2024, so chase it after two weeks.

Watch out for

  • Redi-Data's registry entry says it isn't regulated by FCRA, GLBA, HIPAA or the California medical privacy laws, so none of those routes apply here.

Your rights

In its 2024 California filing Redi-Data reports 617,950 deletion requests received, all complied with in whole, at a mean of 5 days and a median of 11.

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
