How to opt out of PitchBook
- 1
Open the Morningstar request page
PitchBook's privacy policy sends sale opt-outs to its parent company's site: morningstar.com/request-data.
- 2
Choose the sale opt-out
Pick the option to opt out of the sale of your personal information. The policy says this keeps your name and business contact details out of the PitchBook Platform.
- 3
Submit with the email address on your profile
Use the business email PitchBook is most likely to hold for you.
- 4
Call if you'd rather not use the form
The policy lists a toll-free number, +1 (888) 293-8609. Call it with questions about what PitchBook has disclosed and to whom, or about other data requests.
Watch out for
- The opt-out covers sale only. Updates, access and deletion go to PitchBook's privacy email, which its policy prints with the address hidden.
- The form lives on Morningstar's site because PitchBook belongs to Morningstar.
- A work email you no longer use can still point to you.

Does it come back?
PitchBook doesn't publish a relisting policy. Search for your name every few months, especially after a job change.
Your rights
PitchBook's policy names special opt-out rights for residents of the EEA and the UK, plus several US states. California is one of them, and PitchBook is on that state's data broker registry.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
