How to opt out of Blue Action

  1. 1

    Open the homepage

Go to blueaction.io. The registry's own page for consumers, blueaction.io/do-not-sell/, returned an error when last read, so start from the homepage.

  2. 2

Click Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Scroll to the footer and use the link with that name. The California registry says this is how consumers exercise their rights.

  3. 3

    Submit your request

Give the name and email address linked to the donations or advocacy actions you took.

  4. 4

    Call if the link fails

The registry lists (202) 505-2604 as the phone number.

Watch out for

  • Its California registry entry reports 891 deletion requests in 2024. All were met in full. The median response time was 19 days.

Does it come back?

Blue Action doesn't publish a relisting policy. If you sign another petition or donate again through a Blue Action page, your details can return.

Your rights

Blue Action is on California's data broker registry, so California residents can ask it to delete their data.

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
