How to opt out of CourtRecords.us
- 1
Open the Your Privacy Choices page
Go to courtrecords.us/optout. A notice asks you to click "I Agree" before the page loads; it says this only starts a preliminary search and that nothing is purchased.
- 2
Pick the right request
The page splits requests by type: opt out of sale or sharing, a rights request (know, correct, delete), a covered-person removal, and expunged records. Choose the one that matches why you want off the site.
- 3
Use the form for sale, sharing and rights requests
The Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page has the web form. CourtRecords.us says it may ask extra questions to confirm the information is yours.
- 4
Email for expunged or sealed records
Write to privacy@courtrecords.us with the subject line "Attention Expungement Records". The site says it will review the inquiry and answer under applicable law.
- 5
Judges, prosecutors, police and their households
If you're a covered person under the Daniel Anderl Judicial Security and Privacy Act, email privacy@courtrecords.us with the subject "Attention Covered Person Removal Request". Include your full name, residence, email and your covered status.
- 6
Appeal if it's denied
A denied request can be appealed to the same address.
Watch out for
- Expunged, sealed or restricted records can still appear, because the site aggregates public sources. You have to ask for those separately by email.
- Browsers that send a Global Privacy Control signal are treated as an opt-out of sale or sharing, which covers cookies and not your record.

Your rights
The site lists privacy rights in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia, and a 45-day response window.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
