How to opt out of RecruitBot

  1. 1

    Open RecruitBot's CCPA page

Go to recruitbot.com/ccpa. It lists the three ways to ask for information, access or deletion: the opt-out page, a toll-free number and an email address.

  2. 2

Pick how you want to ask

The opt-out page is the form route. If you'd rather not fill in a form, call (888) 481-6811 or write to ccpa@recruitbot.com and say you want your personal information deleted.

  3. 3

    Name what you want

RecruitBot says it can't process a request that lacks enough detail to understand it. Say plainly that you want deletion, and add that you want it to stop selling your information.

  4. 4

    Confirm who you are

RecruitBot says it needs to confirm your identity and California residency before it acts. Expect to be asked for something beyond your name.

  5. 5

    Save what you send

Keep a copy of the request or a note of the date you called, so you can follow up if nothing arrives.

Watch out for

  • RecruitBot's policy lists its sources as third-party purchased. Deleting your record doesn't stop the companies it bought from, so a profile can be rebuilt from a new purchase.
  • The identity check means handing RecruitBot more details to remove the details it already has. Send only what it asks for.

What RecruitBot holds about you

  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Employment and education

Does it come back?

RecruitBot doesn't publish a relisting policy. Because it buys its data from third parties, check back a few months after your request.

Your rights

RecruitBot's rights section is written for California residents under the CCPA. It is listed on the California data broker registry, which reports 127 deletion requests in 2024 with a median response of 5 days.

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.

Frequently asked

What does RecruitBot sell?

Its policy says it sells identifiers, job history and job title, education details, inferences and online identifiers to business customers. It lists the source of all of it as third-party purchased.

Can I opt out if I don't live in California?

RecruitBot's published process is framed around California residents. It doesn't say what it does for requests from other states.

Do I have to use the form?

No. The policy gives a toll-free number, (888) 481-6811, and the address ccpa@recruitbot.com as alternatives.

Will RecruitBot confirm it deleted my record?

The policy doesn't say how it confirms. Ask for written confirmation when you send the request.
