How to remove yourself from TruthRecord
TruthRecord's privacy page has two separate requests, and only "Remove My Information" takes a record off the site. TruthRecord emails you a link, and nothing is removed until you click it. It says it completes requests within 45 calendar days.

How to opt out of TruthRecord
- 1
Open the privacy requests page
Go to TruthRecord Privacy Requests. It offers two choices that work differently.
- 2
Pick Remove My Information
"Your Privacy Choices" only records a do-not-sell-or-share request, applied within 15 business days. Your listing stays up.
- 3
Submit the request with an email address you can open
TruthRecord logs the request the moment you press submit. That date starts its deadlines.
- 4
Click the link in the confirmation email
Nothing is removed until you do. After that, TruthRecord stops returning results for you: in new searches, in reports members already have access to, and from matching records it takes in later.
- 5
Or call
If the link never arrives, or you'd rather not use the page, call (855) 935-6090. TruthRecord says it will complete the request with you.
Watch out for
- TruthRecord can't recall a copy that someone already downloaded.
- It acknowledges requests within 10 business days. It completes them within 45 calendar days.
- An authorized agent can submit on your behalf. For Remove My Information TruthRecord asks for your signed permission, attached with the request.
- A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser is treated as a do-not-sell-or-share request automatically, TruthRecord says.

Does it come back?
TruthRecord says it stops returning results for a person from matching records it takes in later, so a confirmed removal is meant to hold.
Your rights
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.

Frequently asked
What's the difference between the two requests?
Your Privacy Choices stops sale and sharing and limits sensitive data use, but doesn't remove a listing. Remove My Information is the one that takes a record off the site.
Do I have to click a link?
For removal, yes. TruthRecord emails a confirmation link and says nothing is removed until it's clicked. The privacy-choices request needs no link.
Is there a penalty for using my rights?
TruthRecord says it won't deny service, charge a different price or lower the quality of service because you made a request on this page.
Can someone else file the request for me?
Yes. TruthRecord accepts authorized agents on the page or by phone, and asks for your signed permission for a removal.
