How to opt out of VerifyRecords
- 1
Email your request
Send a data removal request to support@verifyrecords.com. VerifyRecords recommends email over the other routes because it processes email faster.
- 2
Use fax or mail if you prefer
The fax number is (617) 507-0410, and it handles data opt-out requests only. By post, address it to Data Management Department, Verifyrecords.com, PO Box 990142, Boston, MA 02199.
- 3
Clear it out of search results
A removed record can still show in Google or Bing until they re-index the site. If it does, file a request with each search engine's removal tool.
- 4
Go to the source for the original record
VerifyRecords says it pulls records from state and local offices, courts and agencies. To get the record corrected or made non-public, you contact that office yourself, and the process differs from place to place.
Watch out for
- Removal here doesn't touch other public records sites or search engines. VerifyRecords says it has no control over either.
- It says most information is removed or blocked permanently, but doesn't guarantee the data won't return in another form from public or third-party sources.
- The fax line takes opt-out requests only, not customer questions.

Does it come back?
VerifyRecords says it can't guarantee a record stays gone, because the underlying public records keep feeding its database. Search for yourself again every few months.
Your rights
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
