How to opt out of Zlookup

  1. 1

    Open the opt-out page

Go to zlookup.com/opt_out. The page tells you to enter the full phone number you want removed.

  2. 2

Enter the number and send the form

Type the whole number, area code included, and submit it.

  3. 3

    Repeat for each number

The form works per phone number, so a landline and a mobile are two requests.

  4. 4

Email if the form doesn't work

Zlookup's privacy policy lists hello@zlookup.com as a contact. Say which number you want taken down.

Watch out for

  • The opt-out is keyed to a phone number, not a name, so a person with three numbers has three listings to clear.

Does it come back?

Zlookup doesn't publish a relisting policy. Search the number again after a few weeks.

Your rights

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.

It's a reverse phone lookup and phone directory. Search the number yourself on zlookup.com to see what it displays.

The opt-out page asks only for the phone number.

Does removing a number from Zlookup remove it elsewhere?

No. Other reverse lookup sites keep their own listings and each has its own opt-out.
