How to opt out of SmartMove
- 1
Open the privacy policy
Go to smartmove.us/company/privacy and find the section on submitting a request about your information.
- 2
Use the opt-out form for sale
A separate form in the same policy handles opting out of the sale of your information to unaffiliated third parties and data cooperatives.
- 3
Or send an email
For a data request, email SmartMove with the subject "Data Privacy Request". California residents opting out of sale use the subject "CCPA Opt-Out Notice" (the registry lists compliance@ctam.com as the contact).
- 4
Appeal a denial
The policy has an appeal form for denials. Verify your email and SmartMove reviews the decision.
Watch out for
- An agent can file for you. SmartMove then wants written permission and government ID from both of you.
- SmartMove says its site doesn't collect names or email addresses. Quote forms pass them to service providers instead, so you may have to ask those companies separately.

Your rights
CTAM LeadShare Corp. files SmartMove's entry on the California data broker registry. SmartMove says it honors requests to access, correct or delete data from any US resident.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
