How to opt out of Windfall
- 1
Open the privacy choices page
Scroll to the opt-out of sale of personal information to its customers, and click the Exercise Privacy Rights button.
- 2
Fill in your details
Windfall needs your first and last name and your current address, because its database is organized by name and address. It also needs an email address to tell you the status of your request.
- 3
Submit and wait for the status email
Windfall says it uses what you enter only to process the request and keep a record of its response.
- 4
Cookies and Global Privacy Control
To stop targeted advertising from its site, decline cookies. People in California and Colorado can also turn on Global Privacy Control in their browser. Either opt-out is specific to the device and browser.
- 5
Ask for access, correction or deletion
Use the same form. For access requests, you need a phone number that matches Windfall's records. If it refuses, the page has a way to appeal.
Watch out for
- Opting out removes you from Windfall's databases only, not from databases belonging to other companies, including its customers.
- Because the database is organized by name and address, an old or misspelled address may not match your record.
- The browser opt-outs apply to one device and browser at a time.

Does it come back?
Windfall doesn't publish a relisting policy, and the opt-out doesn't reach data held by its customers, so check again after you move.
Your rights
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
