How to opt out of Commercial Real Estate Exchange, Inc.

  1. 1

    Find the Privacy Portal link

Scroll to the footer of any Crexi page and open the Privacy Portal link. Crexi's help center says requests have to be submitted there.

  2. 2

    Choose what you're asking for

The portal handles requests to know, delete or correct personal information. Pick delete if you want the data gone.

  3. 3

    Submit it and wait

Crexi says it responds within 45 calendar days and may take another 45 on top. Keep the confirmation Crexi sends in case you need to follow up.

Watch out for

  • Crexi only accepts these requests through the portal, so an email to a general address isn't the route Crexi names.
  • The 45-day answer window can stretch to 90.

Your rights

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
