How to opt out of TransUnion
- 1
Pick how you'll file
On TransUnion's US state privacy rights page you can use a one-time opt-out form, or create or sign in to a Service Center account. You can also call instead.
- 2
Submit the opt-out
Use the opt-out form at service.transunion.com and complete the request.
- 3
Know what you won't get
TransUnion says the one-time form sends no status updates and no confirmation email. A Service Center account lets you check status and get a confirmation.
- 4
Or call
Call 866-310-8783, which TransUnion lists for people who don't want to create or log into an account.
Watch out for
- There's no way to opt out of selling or sharing specific pieces of information. The change applies to everything in your data privacy report.
- Data collected under the Fair Credit Reporting Act for credit reporting isn't covered by the California privacy law, so your credit file stays.
- Cookie sharing is separate: use the Cookies Settings link in the site footer.
- An agent needs written authorization signed by you.
What TransUnion holds about you
- Full name and aliases
- Current address
- Phone numbers
- Age and date of birth
- Employment and education
- Income and purchase data
What TransUnion is known to collect, not a check of your listing.
Does it come back?
TransUnion doesn't say how long an opt-out lasts.
Your rights
TransUnion says California residents can ask data brokers to delete their data through TransUnion or the state's DROP platform at privacy.ca.gov/drop. It may process requests differently by state, and may not process them where no state law applies.

Frequently asked
Does opting out change my credit report?
No. Credit reporting data under the FCRA is outside the sale and sharing opt-out.
Which phone number do I call?
866-310-8783 is on TransUnion's registry filing. One page gives 833-395-6938 for starting an opt-out, so check the page you're on.
Will I get a confirmation?
Only if you use a Service Center account. The one-time form sends none.
