How to opt out of Factori

  1. 1

    Reset your phone's advertising ID

On Android 4.4 or higher, go to Settings > Accounts/Google > Ads, reset the advertising ID and tick "Opt out of interest-based ads". On iOS, go to Settings > Privacy > Advertising and turn on Limit Ad Tracking, where you can also reset the identifier.

  2. 2

Switch off location sharing you don't need

Factori's opt-out page sends you to your device's location settings, since that is where collection from the phone is controlled.

  3. 3

Submit your details on the opt-out page

Open factori.ai/opt-out and fill in the form at the bottom. Factori says it will delete your data from its databases within 30 days.

  4. 4

Email if the form doesn't load

Factori's privacy policy gives privacy@factori.ai for opt-out requests about advertising ID (MAID) data.

Watch out for

  • A reset or Limit Ad Tracking flag only works going forward: Factori removes recognized devices from its reporting solutions, and says it may keep using that information for market research and aggregated analytics.
  • Resetting your advertising ID gives the phone a new ID. Data tied to the old ID stops following you, but collection under the new one starts fresh.
  • Factori runs a separate Do Not Sell My Information page next to the opt-out page.

Does it come back?

Factori doesn't publish a relisting policy. Because the data follows your advertising ID, a new ID or a new device can start collecting again, so repeat the phone settings after you change phones.

Your rights

Factori says its opt-out page exists to serve rights under the GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act, and its policy says it honors opt-out signals as applicable law and platform policy require.

Frequently asked

What does Factori actually hold on me?

Its policy talks about mobile advertising ID (MAID) data, location and mobility data, and data used for advertising. It doesn't publish a lookup that shows what it has on you.

How long does deletion take?

The opt-out page says Factori will delete your data from its databases within 30 days of your submission.

Does resetting my ad ID delete anything?

No. Factori says it honors the limit or opt-out flag by removing recognized devices from its reporting going forward. The form is the route to deletion.
