How to opt out of SheerID
- 1
Open the audience development notice
Start at SheerID's privacy notice for audience development products, which links to the Opt Out Form in its Privacy Center.
- 2
Choose Do Not Sell
In the Privacy Center form, pick the option labelled "Do Not Sell". Your information then stays out of custom audience profiles.
- 3
Email for anything else
Write to privacy@sheerid.com, the contact in SheerID's California registry entry.
Watch out for
- The Do Not Sell option covers the Audience Development Service. The notice doesn't describe it as deleting data held for SheerID's verification service.
- SheerID says it may combine data from third-party sources with what it collects from you. It uses the result to infer things about you.

Your rights
SheerID says its opt-out applies regardless of where you live. It is on the California data broker registry and its notice points to the Texas Secretary of State for registrant information.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
European Union: GDPR. You have the right to have your personal data erased and to object to its use for direct marketing. Companies must respond within one month, and you can complain to your national data protection authority if they don't.
