How to opt out of ACH

  1. 1

Open the Do Not Sell page

Go to achcoop.com/do-not-sell-my-personal-info, the link ACH puts at the bottom of its site.

  2. 2

    Submit your request

Ask to opt out of the sale of your personal information. If you're a protected individual, ACH's California filing says to use the same page to request deletion.

  3. 3

Give the details it asks for

Enter the name and mailing address as they appear on the mail you receive, so ACH can find the right records.

  4. 4

    Or send it in writing

ACH's California filing also accepts requests by email at privacy@achcoop.com or by mail to ACH at 16192 Coastal Highway, Lewes, DE 19958.

  5. 5

    Keep a record

Save the confirmation or a copy of what you sent, with the date.

Watch out for

  • ACH is a mailing-list business, so what it holds is tied to your name and postal address. One request may not cover a spelling variant or an old address.
  • Opting out of sale is not the same as deleting your data, so ask for deletion too if that is what you want.
  • In its California filing ACH reports a median of 10 days and a mean of 21 days to respond.

What ACH holds about you

  • Full name and aliases
  • Current address
  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses

What ACH is known to collect, not a check of your listing.

Does it come back?

ACH doesn't publish a relisting policy. Mailing lists refresh from new sources, so a move or a new subscription can put you back. Check after any address change.

Your rights

ACH is registered as a data broker in California. California residents can ask it to delete their data and to stop selling it, and its filing says it takes requests on achcoop.com, by email or by mail.

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
