How to opt out of Retention.com
- 1
Open the opt-out form
Go to app.retention.com/optout. The page is titled "Database Opt Out" and is meant for anyone in the US who wants their personal information withdrawn from resale.
- 2
Enter the email address Retention.com would know you by
Retention.com matches people by email, so use the address you want removed. If you have several, repeat the request for each one.
- 3
Submit the form
That's the request. The page doesn't describe a confirmation step.
- 4
Phone instead
Call 1-(855) 306-2455 and leave a voicemail saying you withdraw your consent to resell your personal information to third parties. Say your email address clearly: the page says the voicemail has to include it, and that Retention.com uses what you give only to handle the request.
Watch out for
- The opt-out is matched on the email address you give, so an address you forget to list isn't covered.
- The California registry lists Retention.com together with RB2B. The opt-out page doesn't say whether one request covers both.

Does it come back?
Retention.com doesn't publish a relisting policy. If you start getting marketing email tied to site visits again, send the request again.
Your rights
The opt-out page extends the right to all US residents and lets you authorize another person to act for you. The California registry entry for its operator, GETEMAILS LLC, reports 9,482 opt-out requests in 2024, all complied with, at a mean of 1 day.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
