How to remove yourself from Canada411
Canada411 builds its listings from published phone records, so you have two routes: ask your phone provider to make your number unlisted, which clears it from the site, directory assistance and print, or use the site's web-only removal request. Canada411 says the web removal takes two working days.
On average, Serus sends about 184 removal requests per person, 89% of them to data brokers, so expect Canada411 to be one of many.

How to opt out of Canada411
- 1
Decide how far you want the removal to go
The web-only request takes your listing off Canada411.ca but leaves it in the print directory and in Directory Assistance. Going unlisted with your phone provider removes it from all three.
- 2
For the web-only route, use the removal link
Open the FAQ entry "How do I remove my listing?" on Canada411's help page and follow its link to submit your request. Canada411 says the listing then leaves the site within two working days.
- 3
For the full route, call your phone provider
Ask to change your published number to an unlisted one. Monthly fees may apply, and the change should reach Canada411 within one to two months, depending on when in the month it was made.
- 4
Ask your provider to email the removal to Canada411
To cut that delay, ask your provider to email a removal request to Canada411. It says that, to protect you from unauthorized changes, only requests from recognized telephone service providers are processed.
Watch out for
- The web-only request leaves you in the print directory and Directory Assistance.
- Edits and phone-level removals go through your telephone provider. Canada411 says it updates automatically when the new data arrives.
- Some independent phone companies don't supply listings, so you may not appear at all. Ask your provider whether it participates.
- If your number is already unlisted but you appear, Canada411 says the listing may have been published by mistake and tells you to contact your provider.

Does it come back?
Canada411 doesn't publish a relisting policy. Its data comes from published telephone records and is refreshed monthly, with residential data 30 to 65 days old, so a listing made unlisted at your provider stays off while the provider's records stay current. Check again after you change numbers or providers.
