How to opt out of MUGSHOTLOOK
- 1
Open the privacy page
Go to the privacy page on privatereports.com. Infomatics lists its sites (privatereports.com, mugshotlook.com and publicsearcher.com) as the places to exercise your California privacy rights.
- 2
Send your request
Ask for your record to be removed and for your data not to be sold. Use the request option on the privacy page if it shows one.
- 3
Email if you can't find the option
Email support@privatereports.com with your full name, the record or page you want removed and the site it appears on.
- 4
Call if you get no reply
The registry lists (833) 783-0920 as the contact number.
- 5
Search again
Search your name on mugshotlook.com a few days later to check the record is gone.
Watch out for
- Infomatics runs more than one site. Ask for removal from all three, MugshotLook, PrivateReports and PublicSearcher, in the same request.
- Taking a record off the site doesn't change the court or police record it came from.
- Other mugshot and arrest-record sites keep their own copies and need their own requests.

Sister sites
These are run by the same company. Removing yourself from MUGSHOTLOOK doesn't remove you from them, so check each one.
Does it come back?
Infomatics doesn't publish a relisting policy. Arrest records are re-collected from public sources, so search your name every few months.
Your rights
Infomatics LLC is registered as a data broker in California, where residents can ask it to delete data and stop selling it under the CCPA.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
