How to remove yourself from TruthFinder
TruthFinder's opt-out runs through the free PeopleConnect Suppression Center, linked from truthfinder.com/privacy-center. You verify an email, then confirm your name, date of birth and a phone or email. TruthFinder says records "typically stop appearing in search results within a few days".

How to opt out of TruthFinder
- 1
Open the Suppression Center
Go to the TruthFinder Privacy Center, scroll down to Public Data Tools and click Manage My Suppression Rules. That opens the PeopleConnect Suppression Center.
- 2
Enter your email address
Enter your email address, tick the box agreeing to the terms and click Continue.
- 3
Click the verification link
Open the verification email and click the link to carry on.
- 4
Confirm your identity
Confirm your identity with your full name, date of birth and a phone number or email address you can verify. TruthFinder says it uses these only to process the request.
- 5
Suppress your Background Report
Once that's done, TruthFinder won't show the report when someone searches your name.
- 6
Check after a few days
Wait a few days, then search your name on TruthFinder to check.
Watch out for
- Your name can still turn up when someone looks up your phone number or address, and on sex offender lists, after a suppression.
- Suppression only hides your own report; to stop your name appearing as a possible relative or associate in other people's reports, use the separate Right to Opt Out form in the Privacy Center.
- Deleting your User Data (your account and search history) does not suppress your Background Report, so make both requests if you've used TruthFinder yourself.
- The tool doesn't name TruthFinder, LLC's other websites, such as GetFullReport.com and BackgroundChecks.us, so search them separately.

Does it come back?
TruthFinder doesn't publish a relisting policy. Its Suppression Center says "subtle discrepancies and inaccuracies" in public records can make it hard to remove everything tied to you, and asks you to contact it if your data still shows after you've suppressed it. Check again a week after your request, then every few months.
Your rights
TruthFinder's privacy policy says California's DROP "does not apply to publicly available information", which is exactly what its reports contain, so use the Suppression Center as well. Connecticut residents gained a right to delete publicly available information compiled into profiles from October 1, 2026, which you use by emailing TruthFinder.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.

Frequently asked
Does TruthFinder charge to remove my information?
No. PeopleConnect says its Suppression Tool is free, and the process starts with just an email address.
Does opting out of TruthFinder remove me from Instant Checkmate and Intelius?
Yes, according to PeopleConnect. One suppression covers all four of its people-search brands, US Search included.
Why do I still show up as someone's relative?
Suppressing your report doesn't remove your name from other people's reports. Use the relatives and associates form in the TruthFinder Privacy Center.
I deleted my TruthFinder account. Am I removed?
No. Account deletion covers User Data only. Your Background Report stays searchable until you suppress it.
Does California's DROP remove me from TruthFinder?
Not from its reports. TruthFinder says DROP doesn't cover publicly available information, so use the Suppression Center too.
