How to opt out of FourthWall
- 1
Check you have the right company
FourthWall Media collects and reports viewership data from television, cable, satellite and connected devices for business customers. Its site is fourthwall.tv. The creator merchandise platform at fourthwall.com is a separate business.
- 2
Open the Do Not Sell or Share page
Go to fourthwall.tv/donotsellorshare-fourthwall, which FourthWall lists as its opt-out route. Its Privacy Policy is at fourthwall.tv/privacy-fourthwall.
- 3
Submit the form
Complete the form on that page to opt out of sale or sharing.
- 4
Ask your TV provider too
FourthWall says it gets data from distributors and providers of video content, from data brokers and from advertisers. Those companies have their own privacy notices, and an opt-out with FourthWall doesn't reach them.
Watch out for
- Name searches don't help here. FourthWall describes its data as viewership and device information it receives from other companies, so there is no public profile to find.
- Its Privacy Policy tells consumers who want to understand a FourthWall customer's practices to contact that customer directly. An opt-out with FourthWall doesn't reach the customers' own records.
- The registry entry says FourthWall collects precise geolocation.
Does it come back?
FourthWall doesn't publish a relisting policy. It says it keeps collecting from distributors and other third parties, so new data can arrive after your request. Send it again if you see a sign it has.
Your rights
FourthWall is on the California data broker registry, and its Privacy Policy has a section of consumer request metrics under the California Delete Act.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
