How to opt out of NFocus

  1. 1

    Read the rights section

NFocus's privacy policy has a CCPA request section.

  2. 2

    Email consumer@n-focus.com

This is the contact address in NFocus's California registry entry. Say whether you want to opt out of sale or sharing, or have your data deleted, and include the name and details it would need to find you.

  3. 3

    Call 740-654-5809

Same registry entry. Use it if you'd rather talk to someone.

Watch out for

  • In its California filing NFocus calls itself a data reseller, not a compiler, which means it gets data from others and the original source may still hold yours.
  • Its privacy policy says it may sell or share personal identifiers, commercial information and employment information with third parties. Inferences too.

What NFocus holds about you

  • Employment and education
  • Income and purchase data

Does it come back?

NFocus doesn't publish a relisting policy.

Your rights

California residents can ask NFocus to delete their data or stop selling it. The filing reports 187 deletion requests and 220 opt-out requests received.

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
