How to remove yourself from DataMasters

Also known as Rickenbacher Data LLC

DataMasters gives two routes: a form at datamasters.org/opt-out, or a call to (469) 882-2000 where a live person takes your details. Either one opts you out of future direct mail, phone and email marketing.

How to opt out of DataMasters

  1. 1

Pick the form or the phone

    The opt-out page lists both.

  2. 2

    Use the form

Go to datamasters.org/opt-out, fill in your details and submit. DataMasters says this opts you out of future direct mail, telephone and email marketing.

  3. 3

    Or call (469) 882-2000

A live representative takes your information and applies the same opt-out.

Watch out for

  • DataMasters also sells cell phone and reverse email appends, so one record can carry several ways to reach you.
  • The opt-out covers marketing from DataMasters lists. Other list companies keep their own data.

Does it come back?

DataMasters doesn't publish a relisting policy.

Your rights

California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.

California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.

Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
