How to opt out of DonorBureau
- 1
Open the DonorBureau opt-out form
Go to optout.donorbureau.com. The page is for anyone who wants their contact information taken out of DonorBureau's files.
- 2
Give as much as you can
DonorBureau asks for as much information as possible so it can adjust the right files, and names email, cellphone and address as examples. If you've been contacted at several addresses or numbers, list each one.
- 3
Submit and keep a copy
DonorBureau says it will use what you send to process the request and to keep a record of it. Save a screenshot of what you entered.
- 4
Email instead if you prefer
California residents have a second route: DonorBureau's California registry entry lists CCPA@donorbureau.com as its privacy contact.
Watch out for
- DonorBureau promises removal "as soon as reasonably practicable and consistent with any applicable laws", not a fixed number of days, so there's no date to hold it to.
- The form clears DonorBureau's own files only. Donor and marketing lists are traded widely, so the same email or address can still arrive from other companies.

Does it come back?
DonorBureau doesn't publish a relisting policy. Its form says it keeps a record of your request, which is how it would recognize you later; if mail or email from it resumes, send the request again.
Your rights
DonorBureau is registered as a data broker in California and links a page for California privacy rights, so the CCPA applies if you live there.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
