How to remove yourself from 192.com

Fill in the removal form at 192.com/c01/new-request with your full postcode and an email address you control, then click the link in the confirmation email. 192.com says removals are usually done within 24 hours, and a suppression file keeps your details off if suppliers send them again.

On average, Serus sends about 184 removal requests per person, 89% of them to data brokers, so expect 192.com to be one of many.

192.com doesn't say how long removal takes. Under California law, a business has 45 days to act on a deletion request (15 business days for an opt-out of sale).

How to opt out of 192.com

  1. 1

    Open the removal form

Go to 192.com/c01/new-request, titled "Removal of Personal Data from 192.com".

  2. 2

Enter your details and the full postcode

The form works from the name and full postcode on the record. You can add up to five more people who live at the same address; if you want to remove more than that, you complete a second form.

  3. 3

Use an email address you control

192.com emails you a confirmation with a link in it. It doesn't process the removal until you click that link, so check your spam folder if nothing arrives.

  4. 4

    Repeat for every other address

If you've been registered at other addresses, 192.com needs one online form per name and address you want removed.

Watch out for

  • You can only submit the form for yourself or immediate family. 192.com says requests to remove anyone else will not be carried out.
  • You need the full postcode of the record. If you don't know it, 192.com asks you to email what you do know about the record instead.
  • Nothing happens until you click the confirmation link in the email.

What 192.com holds about you

  • Full name and aliases
  • Current address

What 192.com is known to collect, not a check of your listing.

Does it come back?

192.com removes people through a suppression file that holds your name and postcode. It says this stops your details being published and blocks them automatically if suppliers send new data files that include them. The suppression is tied to the name and postcode you submitted, so a new address needs its own request.
