How to opt out of Steppingblocks
- 1
Open the privacy statement
Go to steppingblocks.com/privacy-ccpa and find the section on exercising your rights. It links to the Privacy Form.
- 2
Choose what you're asking for
The form covers access, correction and deletion, and it also covers opting out of sale or sharing. Pick opt-out, deletion or both.
- 3
Or email instead
Write to privacy@steppingblocks.com with your name and what you want done. Steppingblocks accepts requests by email as well as through the form.
- 4
Be ready to verify who you are
The company says it may require identity verification and can decline a request it can't verify.
Watch out for
- Steppingblocks says it may sell identifiers such as your name, along with other categories listed in its statement, to third parties. An opt-out of sale is a separate request from deletion.
- If it refuses your request you can appeal by emailing privacy@steppingblocks.com, and then contact your state attorney general.

Your rights
Steppingblocks' statement applies to California and other state privacy laws and lists rights to know, correct, delete and opt out, plus freedom from retaliation.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people.
