How to delete your Nextdoor account

Go to Settings > Account settings > Deactivate your account, choose a reason, then use the "click here" link under the button to delete instead of deactivate. Deleting can't be undone, and uninstalling the app doesn't close your account.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Switch to the right profile

If you have both a neighbor profile and a business profile, switch to the one you want to remove before you continue.

  2. 2

    Open the deactivate page

Go to Settings > Account settings > Deactivate your account. This works in the app and on the website.

  3. 3

    Choose a reason for leaving

Nextdoor asks why you're going before it lets you continue.

  4. 4

    Skip the deactivation checkbox

Don't tick the deactivation box. Use the "click here" link below the button to delete your account instead.

  5. 5

    Confirm on the next screen

You get two options again: tick the box to continue with deactivation, or use the "click here" link below the button to delete. Pick the delete link.

Watch out for

  • Deactivation is reversible and keeps your account recoverable. Deletion is permanent.
  • Deleting removes the account tied to the email address you're logged in with, so check which address that is.
  • Uninstalling the Nextdoor app doesn't delete your account. Your account and profile stay active.
  • A business page stays on Nextdoor after you deactivate or delete a business account, and any active ads are cancelled.

Other ways to do it

  1. 1

    Use Nextdoor's contact form

Nextdoor's help article also lets you delete your account by submitting its contact form. Find the link in the help article under Sources.

What stays out there

Deleting your Nextdoor account stops new activity on Nextdoor. Your name, street and neighborhood may already sit on people-search sites, and posts or comments other people copied or quoted aren't covered.

Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them from the sites and services that hold them, including people-search sites where you live. See how Serus works.

Frequently asked

What's the difference between deactivating and deleting Nextdoor?

Deactivation is reversible, so you can recover your account later. Deletion is permanent.

Does deleting the Nextdoor app delete my account?

No. Nextdoor says that removing the app leaves your account and profile active.

How do I delete a Nextdoor business account?

Nextdoor has a separate help article for business accounts. Deleting one doesn't remove the Business Page from Nextdoor.
