Step by step

Finish or cancel your active tasks
Airtasker asks you to have no active tasks before you deactivate, so sort out open tasks first. Do the same before you ask for deletion.

Open your account menu
In the app, tap the account icon. On the website, click the account icon.

Go to your personal details or settings
In the app, open Personal Information. On the web, open Settings. Airtasker's two help pages disagree on the tab (Profile on one, Account on the other), so check both if you don't see the delete option.

Choose the delete option and confirm
Airtasker warns that the request is permanent and can't be reversed. You can't reopen the account or reuse the same email address.

Wait for the request to finish
Airtasker says it may take up to 30 days to finalise your deletion request.
Watch out for
- Deletion can't be reversed, and the email address can't be used for a new Airtasker account afterwards.
- Deactivating is not deleting. Your account still exists and comes back when you log in.
- Airtasker's help pages give different timelines (up to 30 days on one, 2 to 5 business days on another), so allow the longer one.
- Airtasker has a help page on accessing your data. Use it before you delete if you want a copy of what the account holds.

Ask support to delete it
Airtasker's help center says you can also send the request through its support form. Choose Request to delete my account as the reason and include the email address on the account.

Deactivate instead of deleting
On the website, go to Settings, then Account, and click Deactivate my account at the bottom. Your public profile is no longer visible. Log back in with your details and the account is reactivated.
What stays out there
Deleting your account stops new data going to Airtasker. It doesn't reach copies held elsewhere. If you used your real name, suburb or phone number on your profile or in tasks, people-search sites and data brokers may have picked that up, and old search results can keep showing it.
