Watch out for

  • Deactivation lasts 30 days, and you can reactivate during that time. After 30 more days the account is permanently deleted.
  • You have 30 days after deactivating or deleting to download your data. If you don't log in or download in the first 30 days, the data is deleted after 60 days.
  • Snap keeps some data for legal, security and business needs, such as purchase records and terms acceptance records.
  • If you're asked to wait 72 hours before trying again, retry on the same device.
  • Clearing your Public Profile doesn't delete your account or username.

What stays out there

Deleting the account stops new data going to Snapchat. It doesn't reach copies that other companies already hold: data brokers and people-search sites often scrape public profiles, and old search results can keep showing a cached page or a username for a while.

If your name, photos or handle were public before you deleted, check where else they show up. Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them, but it doesn't delete or change your Snapchat account itself. That part stays with you, and the steps above cover it.
