Watch out for
- DeviantArt's help center describes this as deactivation. Your profile is hidden at once and your deviations and posts are scheduled for deletion after 21 days.
- You can't reactivate for the first 48 hours. After that you can reactivate until day 21.
- If you don't reactivate within 21 days, the deactivation is permanent. Neither you nor DeviantArt Customer Support can undo it.
- During the grace period you can still log in, but only to view past purchase activity or to reactivate.
- Comments you left stay up, with a line through your username to show the account is deactivated.
- Your username doesn't become available for someone else to use.
Other ways to do it
- 1
Change your email address first
If you want to free up your email address for a different DeviantArt account, change the email on this account before (or instead of) deactivating. Otherwise the address is only freed after the 21-day grace period ends.
What stays out there
Deactivating stops DeviantArt from showing your profile and art. It doesn't reach copies elsewhere: a search engine's cached result, or a people-search site that scraped your username and real name.
If your DeviantArt profile showed your real name or your city, check whether those details are listed on people-search sites too. Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them.
