Serus is a privacy company with paid tools to find and remove your personal data. This guide shows the free way to do it yourself.
Step by step
- 1
Sign in to the Zoom web portal
Use a browser and sign in at zoom.us as the account owner. Zoom's help page says the account owner role is needed to delete the account.
- 2
Cancel a paid subscription first (paid accounts only)
If you pay for Zoom, go to Plans and billing and cancel the plan. Zoom says you have to wait until the current billing cycle ends before you can terminate the account. A free Basic account can be deleted at any time.
- 3
Open Account Profile
In the navigation menu, open Admin, then Account Management, then Account Profile. This is the account page, not your personal profile page.
- 4
Choose Terminate My Account
Select Terminate My Account and enter your password to confirm. Zoom says deleting the account is permanent.
Watch out for
- Paid accounts can't be terminated until the billing cycle ends, so cancel early.
- Deletion is permanent. Download anything you want to keep first.
- Cloud recordings stay available for 30 days after a paid subscription ends, per Zoom, so download them before then.
- Cancelling through Zoom doesn't cancel a plan billed through Apple or Google.

Other ways to do it
- 1
Subscription billed through Apple or Google
Zoom says you must cancel through that store. For Google Play, cancel in Google Play; for Apple, use the App Store or the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. Cancelling in Zoom's portal doesn't stop store billing.
- 2
You're a member of a company or school account
You can't delete a work or school account yourself. Zoom says you can remove your user from that account and move to an individual Basic (free) plan, though some organization setups block this. Ask your admin if the option is missing.
What stays out there
Deleting your Zoom account stops new data collection there. It doesn't reach copies that data brokers and people-search sites already hold, or old search results that mention you. If your name, phone number or email was public on Zoom or linked to it, those details may sit on other sites you never signed up for.
Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them. You can also work through the manual route in our data broker opt-out guides.
Frequently asked
Can I delete a free Zoom account?
Yes. Zoom says a free Basic account can be deleted at any time from the web portal using Terminate My Account.
Does cancelling my Zoom subscription delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops renewal and keeps service until the end of the plan term. You terminate the account as a separate step once that period ends.
Can I undo deleting my Zoom account?
Zoom describes deletion as permanent, so plan on starting over with a new account if you need Zoom again.
I can't find Terminate My Account. Why?
You probably aren't the account owner, or you opened your personal profile instead of Admin > Account Management > Account Profile.
