Watch out for
- There's no way to recover a deleted Proton Account, and its data is permanently removed from Proton's systems.
- Deleting the account affects every Proton service on it, not only Mail.
- Back up Drive files, Pass passwords and Wallet recovery information before you start.
- If your goal is to stop paying, Proton has a separate article for managing or cancelling a subscription.

What stays out there
Deleting a Proton Account removes your Proton data. It doesn't change what other people and companies already hold. Anyone you emailed keeps those messages, and your Proton address may be sitting in contact lists, breach data and marketing databases.
Search for the address after you delete to see where it still turns up. Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them, and keeps watching for new listings.
