Cancel any subscription bought through an app store
Deleting the account cancels a ChatGPT Plus plan billed by OpenAI. A plan bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play isn't cancelled by deletion, so cancel it in that store.

Check what else uses the same email
If the same email is also used for an OpenAI Ads account, deleting may affect it. Check before you go on.

Either open OpenAI's Privacy Portal and choose Delete my ChatGPT account, or open your account settings in ChatGPT, go to Data Controls and select Delete Account.
