Step by step
- 1
Prepare before you delete
Remove any child account linked to yours first, because Google requires that before deletion. Export your data if you want a copy. If you pay for Google Health Premium, cancel it in the store where you bought it (Google Play, the Apple App Store or the Google Store).
- 2
Open the Google Health app
If you sign in with a Google Account, open the Google Health app. At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial.
- 3
Go to your data settings
Tap Your data in Google Health, then scroll and tap Delete Google Health from your Google Account.
- 4
Sign in to your Google Account
Log in when asked. Under "Delete a Google service", find Google Health and tap Delete.
- 5
Confirm the deletion
Read the information on the screen, tick the check box, then select Delete Google Health service. Your data is permanently deleted after 30 days. If you sign in during that period, you can recover the account.
Watch out for
- The steps depend on how you log in. A Google Account login follows the 30 day path. An original Fitbit login follows the 7 day path.
- Deleting your account doesn't erase what is stored on the tracker itself. If you plan to give the device away, erase it first.
- Most personal account info is deleted within 30 days of your confirmation. It can take up to 90 days to delete everything, including data in backup systems.
- Google says it may keep some data for legal reasons or to prevent harm, as described in its Privacy Policy.
- Deleting the Google Health service is not the same as deleting your whole Google Account. The steps above only remove the Google Health service.
Other ways to do it

If you still use an original Fitbit login
Go to fitbit.com/settings/profile and sign in with your Fitbit email and password. Tap Delete account, enter your password, then tap Send confirmation email. Confirm in the email. Your account is deactivated for 7 days. If you sign in during those 7 days you can recover it. After that it can't be recovered.
What stays out there
Deleting your Fitbit account stops new data from reaching Fitbit. It doesn't touch copies that other companies already hold. Details like your name, email and phone number can still sit on data broker and people-search sites, and old search results can still point to them.
Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them. Serus doesn't delete your Fitbit account or change settings in it, so do the steps above yourself.
Frequently asked
Can I recover my Fitbit account after deleting it?
Yes, for a short time. On the Google login path you can recover the account by signing in within 30 days. On the original Fitbit login path you have 7 days. After that the account can't be recovered.
Do I need to cancel my subscription separately?
Yes. Google says to manage or cancel a Google Health Premium subscription through the store where you bought it.
Can I keep my data before deleting?
Yes. Google's help page points to a data export option. Use it before you confirm deletion.
Is deleting my Fitbit account the same as deactivating it?
No. Deletion is permanent once the recovery window ends. You can also manage or delete some of your Google Health data without deleting the account.
