How to delete your Gemini activity and chats
Go to gemini.google.com, click Settings & help > Activity, then pick Delete: all time, last hour or day, a custom range, a day or one item. To stop saving chats, turn off Keep Activity. Google still keeps chats up to 72 hours when it's off.

Step by step
- 1
Open Gemini Apps Activity
On your computer, go to gemini.google.com and click Settings & help > Activity. You can also go straight to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini.
- 2
Choose what to delete
Delete everything with Delete > All time, the last hour or day with Last hour or Last day, a window with Custom range, a single day with Delete all activity from [day], or one entry with Delete activity item.
- 3
Turn off Keep Activity
Near the top of the Activity page, click Turn off or Turn off and delete activity. Keep Activity is on by default for people 18 or over.
- 4
Set auto-delete
Click Deleting activity older than … months or Choose an auto-delete option. By default activity older than 18 months is auto-deleted. You can pick 3, 18 or 36 months, or Don't auto-delete activity. Click Next and follow the prompts.
Watch out for
- Even with Keep Activity off, Google saves your conversations with your account for up to 72 hours to provide the service and process feedback. They don't show in your Activity.
- Deleting a conversation with a Gem doesn't delete the Gem itself.
- Deleting a shared chat doesn't delete its public link. Delete the link separately.
- Deleting a Gemini Live chat also deletes its audio, transcript, videos and screenshares.
- On a work or school account, your Workspace administrator controls the Activity settings, so you may not be able to change them.

What stays out there
Clearing Gemini activity removes it from your Google Account's Gemini history. Google says it first removes the data from view, then deletes it from its storage systems. It doesn't change what other companies hold about you.
Prompts that included your address, phone number or other details are the part worth clearing first. Copies of those details on data brokers and people-search sites are a separate problem. Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them, and keeps watching for new listings.
Frequently asked
How long does Google keep my Gemini chats?
By default, activity older than 18 months is auto-deleted. You can change that to 3 or 36 months, or turn auto-delete off. With Keep Activity off, chats are still saved for up to 72 hours.
How do I stop Gemini from saving my chats?
Turn off Keep Activity from Settings & help > Activity. Only a limited set of connected apps works while it's off.
Does deleting a chat delete the shared link?
No. Google says a deleted shared chat leaves its public link in place until you delete the link.
Can I delete Gemini activity on a work account?
That's controlled by your Google Workspace administrator, so you may not be able to change retention.
