Watch out for

  • Closing your account permanently deletes your profile and removes access to all your LinkedIn information.
  • It also deletes the recommendations and endorsements you've given or received, and your messages and connections.
  • If you have Premium, you can cancel Premium and keep a free Basic account, which keeps your profile, connections and other information.
  • Enterprise accounts that are cancelled lose access to their Online Jobs and the jobs posted in Recruiter.
  • Search engines such as Google may still show your information for a while after you close the account.

What stays out there

Closing your account removes your LinkedIn profile. It doesn't remove copies elsewhere: people-search sites that copied your profile, or old search results that still show it for a while.

Those listings stay until someone requests removal. Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them. Start at serus.ai.

Click the Me icon, choose Settings & Privacy, and look under Account management in the Account preferences section.
