Serus is a privacy company with paid tools to find and remove your personal data. This guide shows the free way to do it yourself.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Sign in to your account

Go to www.grammarly.com/signin and sign in.

  2. 2

    Open the Profile page

    Go to your Profile page.

  3. 3

    Click Delete Account

Click Delete Account at the bottom of the page.

  4. 4

    Confirm with your sign-in method

If you signed up with an email and password, you'll enter your password. If you used Facebook, you'll enter your Facebook password. If you used Google, you'll select that Google account and sign in to it.

  5. 5

Enter the 6-digit code if asked

In some cases Grammarly asks you to verify ownership with a 6-digit code sent to your current email address.

Watch out for

  • Deleting removes your personal information from Grammarly, including documents saved in the Grammarly Editor, and it can't be undone.
  • Cancelling a paid plan and deleting the account are separate. Cancel to stop payments.
  • If your account is part of an organizational subscription, ask the subscription admin to remove it first. Admin contact details are on the Subscription page.
  • You may need access to your current email inbox for the 6-digit code.

Other ways to do it

  1. 1

    Paid subscription still active

To delete an account while a paid subscription is active, submit a support ticket to Grammarly. To only stop future payments, cancel the subscription instead.

  2. 2

    Superhuman account

Grammarly is now part of Superhuman. If you are a Superhuman user, email care@superhuman.com to delete your account.

What stays out there

Deleting your Grammarly account removes your information and saved documents from Grammarly. It does nothing about the same name and email sitting in data broker files, people-search profiles or old breach dumps.

Deleting an account stops new data at that one company. It doesn't touch copies that data brokers and people-search sites already hold, or old search results. Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them. See how Serus protects you.

Frequently asked

Is deleting a Grammarly account permanent?

Yes. Grammarly says the action cannot be undone and removes your personal information, including documents saved in the Grammarly Editor.

Does deleting my account cancel my subscription?

Grammarly treats them separately. To stop future payments, follow its steps for cancelling a subscription. To delete an account with an active paid plan, submit a support ticket.

How do I delete a Grammarly account that belongs to my employer or school?

Ask the subscription admin to remove it from the organizational subscription first. Admin contact information is on the Subscription page.

I signed up with Google. How do I confirm deletion?

After you click Delete Account, select the Google account you used and sign in to it.
