Step by step

  1. 1

Request a copy of your data

Indeed recommends requesting a copy of your data before you close the account.

  2. 2

    Open your account settings

Sign in to Indeed and open account settings.

  3. 3

    Select Close my account

Click or tap Close my account, below your email address. Indeed may ask you to complete an optional survey.

  4. 4

    Confirm

Follow the prompts to finish closing the account.

Watch out for

  • Closing is permanent. Indeed says you can't reactivate the account, though you can create a new one with the same email address.
  • A Glassdoor account is separate. If the two are linked, signing in to Glassdoor with that Indeed login stops working, and you need to delete the Glassdoor account separately.
  • If you only want fewer emails, you can pause job alerts instead of closing the account.
  • The wording differs slightly between regional help pages, so check the page for your country.

Other ways to do it

  1. 1

Delete your data with a request

Use the Personal Data Request form to ask Indeed to delete your data. Indeed says this can take up to 30 days.

  2. 2

    No Close my account link

If you don't see the link, you may have an employer account. Contact Indeed so they can close it for you.

What stays out there

Deleting your Indeed account stops Indeed from holding an active profile for you. It doesn't reach copies that other companies already have. Data brokers and people-search sites that collected your name, phone number or address, and old search results that point at your profile, stay where they are.

A resume or job history can contain your phone number, home address and employers, and people-search sites and resume databases may hold copies. Deleting the account doesn't reach those. Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them, so the cleanup doesn't stop at one account.

Frequently asked

Does deleting Indeed also delete Glassdoor?

No. Indeed says Glassdoor is a separate account and has to be deleted separately.

How long does an Indeed data deletion request take?

Indeed says the Personal Data Request route can take up to 30 days.
