Cancel active subscriptions
Yahoo Mail, Finance and Fantasy subscriptions are managed on the account's Subscriptions page. Other subscriptions are under My Subscriptions.
- 3
Pay any balance
Pay outstanding balances. Yahoo also says it must be at least 90 days since the end of the paid term of your last canceled subscription.
- 4
Open the account termination page
Sign in to Yahoo's account termination page and read the information on it.
- 5
Follow the prompts to close
Confirm that you want to close the account.
Watch out for
- Closing means you lose your Yahoo email, folders, calendar, Fantasy teams and Finance portfolios.
- An active subscription or an unpaid balance can block closing the account.
- You can usually undo it for a limited time. One regional Yahoo page says signing in within 30 days reactivates the account, with longer periods for some countries.
- Check where else you use the Yahoo address to log in, and change it before you close.
What stays out there
Deleting the account stops new data going to Yahoo. It doesn't reach copies that other companies already hold: data brokers and people-search sites often scrape public profiles, and old search results can keep showing a cached page or a username for a while.
If your name, photos or handle were public before you deleted, check where else they show up. Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them, but it doesn't delete or change your Yahoo account itself. That part stays with you, and the steps above cover it.
